Keyboard Shortcuts for PC and Mac Users

Today's tip is a compilation of web sites which provide keyboard shortcuts for most anything you want to do on a PC or Mac, especially with Windows and Office 2003 for PC users, and Mac OS X and Office 2004 for Mac users. Note that if there is something you want to do using a keystroke and you can't find it here, you can create a macro. See the June 12, 2006 CTOW for information on creating Macros in Word and Excel. One suggestion on how to use this tip is to open Word, and when you find a keyboard shortcut you think you will use, copy it (CTRL+C or Command-C for Macs) and paste it (CTRL+V or Command-C for Macs) into your Word document. Then you can print it and keep it near your workstation.

Remember, if you have ideas for the Computing Tip of the Week, please send them to Pat Fellows.

Keyboard Shortcuts on the Internet

PC

Keyboard shortcuts for Windows - This is a Microsoft site and it provides shortcuts that are very commonly known, like CTRL+C to copy selected text, and an accessibility shortcut - Left ALT+left SHIFT+NUM LOCK (Switch the Mouse Keys either on or off).

Office Keyboard Shortcuts - Another Microsoft site, this time from Microsoft Office Online. There are keyboard shortcuts provided for Access, Excel, FrontPage, InfoPath, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Visio, and Word. This is a great resource for keyboard shortcuts.

Keyboard Assistance and Shortcuts - This Microsoft site provides Accessibility keyboard shortcuts, but they can be very useful for all of us.

Mac

Mac OS X Keyboard Shortcuts - This Apple site provides users with keyboard shortcuts for use in OS X

Mac Keyboard Shortcuts for taking pictures of the screen - This too is an Apple site that provides an easy way to use keyboard shortcuts to capture screen shots.

Microsoft Word Keyboard Shortcuts on the Mac - This Microsoft site provides many keyboard shortcuts for use in Word 2004 on the Mac.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. Do a Google search for Keyboard Shortcuts and you should find what you are looking for. If you don't, remember a macro could work too.
