Outlook Web Access (OWA) and Browsers
There have been several questions about why OWA doesn't work with Firefox, Mozilla, Safari, Opera, and Netscape. This week's tip will provide some insight into the small difference between IE and all these other browsers.
Users should make sure they are using the most current version of their browser. The one exception is with Internet Explorer. We are recommending at this time that users not upgrade to version 7 of Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer (IE), Version 6.0.29 is your best choice for a browser that will render Outlook Web Access properly when selecting the "Premium" setting for "Client". Because OWA is a Microsoft product, it should work well with IE. For Mac users, there are other choices and they will be covered below.
Firefox, Mozilla Opera, and Netscape On the PC or Mac
With all these browsers, OWA users can access sub-folders in the Inbox, but you have to have a sharp eye to spot the key button on the page.

Clicking on this button while in the Inbox, will show the list of sub-folders. Click on the sub-folder and it will open, or if there are sub-folders within that folder, a new list of folders will appear. To return to the Inbox, click on the Inbox button and then click on the + button.
Users can also move messages to sub-folders using the Move button on the toolbar.
![]()
This will bring up the list of possible folders to move the message to. Click on Inbox and then click on the radio button next to the target folder. This view does not allow users to open the sub-folders.
Special Notes
There is also a Firefox Add-on that allows users to have Firefox emulate IE, and thus render OWA as it looks in IE This gives users more intuitive access to their sub-folders. For more information about using this Add-on check out Firefox Add-ons .
The most recent version of Netscape for a Mac is 7.2, however this version is not specifically written for Mac OS X, so check the release notes on the Netscape web site.
