University Relations Executive Director Teri Venker outlines Web sites and links of interest to employees
In an effort to keep all employees throughout UW-Extension and UW Colleges informed, several new Web sites have been developed that I hope you will bookmark and find helpful.
Furlough information Web site
The implementation of the furlough days just started July 1, 2009, but we will be living with furloughs for the next two years, so we have created one Furlough Web site where any information related to the furloughs as they pertain to UW-Extension, UW Colleges and the University of Wisconsin System will be posted. Please let me, Teri Venker, or Human Resources Director David Prucha know if there is additional information you would like to see posted.
Flu Monitoring Web site
A link to the new Flu Monitoring Web site is available in the upper-right-hand corner of our joint UW Colleges and UW-Extension Web site, www.uwex.uwc.edu. This Web site includes posters you can download and post and is a resource for information to help prevent the spread of the H1N1 flu. As the weather starts to change and we head into the winter months when we are all in closer quarters, this one-stop Web site has links to many valuable resources.
Budget Impacts Web site
A new Budget Impacts Web site archives communications on the state and university budget process and links to the various committees and task forces within our institutions working on various matters related to the impacts of the state budget. A furlough link exists there also.
Map of UW-Extension and UW Colleges coverage
Many people find this map helpful in showing others how extensively our two institutions provide access to UW resources and research. This map and the fact sheet on UW Colleges and UW-Extension are posted on the Web, so anyone can download and use them as a handout, an attachment, in PowerPoint or in other ways. The University Relations office continually updates these documents, so anytime you need to use them, please return to the Web site to ensure you are always using the most-up-to-date version. These are housed under "Publications" on the joint www.uwex.uwc.edu Web site.
Professional development training
A number of professional development opportunities are available on the joint www.uwex.uwc.edu Web site under "Human Resources." Training topics include workplace ethics, multicultural awareness and records management.
UW Colleges and UW-Extension in the media
A good way to stay up to speed on what's going on in the UW-Extension and UW Colleges is to sign up for the daily electronic clip sheets, News Clips. Subscribers will receive both the UW Colleges/UW-Extension News Clips and the UW System Clipsheet. A perusal of the headlines and the first few lines can help you to keep abreast of developments throughout UW Colleges and UW-Extension.
