4-H has had and continues to have a tremendous impact on my life and the lives of countless others. I joined the Lucky Clovers 4-H in 1958 when Sid Bjorkman was our Polk County 4-H agent. The opportunities were far greater than I imagined at the club, county, state and national level. Individual 4-H projects, club community service and events; the county fairs, speaking contests, dress services, fun days, drama, square dance; the state 4-H club Week, speaking contest and winning first place; the National 4-H Club Congress, interstate exchange and citizenship short course in Washington DC. Our four children were each in 4-H for 10 years or more. I had the privilege of being a 4-H leader. Now my husband and I are enjoying participating in 4-H with our grandchildren. We are so thankful for the 4-H program.
