Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance
UW Colleges & UW-Extension
Steve Wildeck is vice chancellor for administrative and financial services for the University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin-Extension. He was appointed to this role in 2007, shortly after the administrative integration of UW Colleges and UW-Extension. From 2000 to 2007, he was vice chancellor for administrative services for UW Colleges.
The Office of Administrative and Financial Services plans and manages institutional affairs in the areas of finance and budget, business services, facilities, real estate, human resources, risk management and safety, information technology, and auxiliary enterprises. Steve’s career with UW Colleges began in 1993, when he became business manager at UW-Rock County. Prior roles also included positions with Andersen Consulting and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also served as interim vice president for finance for the University of Wisconsin System for one-year.
As the chief business officer for UW Colleges and UW-Extension, Steve represents the institutions within the council of UW System chief business officers. He is often asked to serve on system-wide committees and task forces because of his unique perspective of what it takes to operate “a system within a system.” His responsibilities take him around the state to support the work of UW-Extension divisions and UW Colleges campuses, as well as to meet with state and local officials on a variety of administrative and financial matters.
Steve holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, both from UW-Madison.
